Beauty Review: Clinique Body Tinted Lotion Medium – Deep

Just recently I was in a fit session and I noticed my feet were darker than my legs, on account of my feet always being exposed and my legs being covered since last summer! It was horrendous and it became clear, it was time to self tan! Clinique Body Tint Lotion to the rescue!

I went back to Clinique since I always trust their self tanning lotions from past use. I picked up the body tinted lotion in medium to deep. They do, do a lighter one also.

£15.50 / $20.00

They seem to have improved the formulation dramatically and it no longer smells like cat pee. Yay!

Formulation:

The formula is a nice thick lotion which is bronzed in tone (great so you can see where it’s going). Plus it has a slight shimmer to it as well, so it will definitely give you a sun kissed glow. It has a very light sent and you’ll notice as it develops the scent may get stronger. It’s the scent that most self tans have, but it isn’t as pungent as it used to be.

Application:

Glides on with super ease and a little goes a very long way indeed. I used some latex disposable gloves to apply it and I would recommend you do the same.

Results:

You can see the tan immediately. You will notice obviously if there is anywhere you’ve already caught the sun you will go a little darker there. You will have a healthy natural bronzed look immediately and it will develop within a few hours to a more solid tone. You’re skin is also left nice and moisturized too!

Precautions:

Never self tan without exfoliating every inch of your skin each 24 hour period. Use a proper body scrub as they work much better than a loofah.

If you have dry skin anywhere try and soften that up and moisturize it a few days before you start to self tan.

Don’t put on clothes too soon after your self tan – wait 10-15 minutes.

Tip:

If you want to apply the self tan again then wait a couple of hours. I didn’t exfoliate again then because I’d done it 2 hours before and the skin isn’t that quick to renew. However, I did get in the shower the next day and loads of the surface colour came off – BUT the tan still remained beautifully deep.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Thank you so much for this! My body is different colors depending on where you look. lol There’s even a dramatic difference from my face to my neck and chest. Weird! Cause you’d think that I’m always covered up or something. I’m usually worried about these pasty legs of mine, so I’ll definitely give this a try.

Last year I used Bath & Body Works bronzer and I wasn’t too enthused about the smell.

You are welcome. I know this is the time of year everyone wants to bare a little more so it’s nice to find a self tan that actually works and isn’t streaky or really smelly! V x

Great review. I just recently bought this product but I am waiting for my last little bit of old bronzer to finally come off before I use it. You said to exfoliate every 24 hours, right? Wouldn’t that continuously rub the bronzer off? Because I never used to exfoliate and I noticed my self tan would be much darker. But then again after a couple weeks of use without exfoliating my self tan started to look un-even. But you definitely recommend exfoliating every 24 hours? thanks!

    • Marissa, the bronzer will go deep into the skin. Since the skin renews every 28 days in certain degrees the exfoliation helps keep the bronzer even – but here’s the thing. You need to really re-apply the bronzer on the skin regularly so it goes into the fresh skin as opposed to any flaky skin. You have to really judge it by trial and error to begin with – and remember some areas such as the knees may need a little more exfoliation and moisturization. I only exfoliate lightly all over then reapply lightly every other day but that’s just me personally.
      Hope this helps. :)
