Why is my Ruby & Mille Nail Color (it’s spelt without a ‘u’ on the bottle) sitting on a plant stem? I’ll tell you why. Because that’s the only place I could actually get the colour to show near enough true. That was a game, my beauties, I can tell you!
And actually I’m not happy, because all I can see is my leaves need dusting. I can’t even look at this picture without my OCD kicking my behind.
Oh the shame *sweeps hair back in dramatic fashion* the world now knows I have dusty leaves!
*pause*
Now that’s all you can see isn’t it? Dusty, bloody leaves!!!!
Okay enough of that – let’s review Ruby & Millie Nail Color in Purple (code 550P)
The colour is purple with a metallic tone to it. It’s a very true, rich purple.
Application
This was really, really runny. You need to pat the applicator on the rim a little to remove the excess.
The applicator brush is quite thin so if you have wider nail beds as I do the three stroke rule kind of goes out of the window.
Two coats are definitely needed but the good news is the drying time is relatively quick. Approximately 3-4 minutes depending on how hot blooded you were. J I wouldn’t expect it to be any less as it doesn’t claim to be fast drying anywhere on the info sticker or bottle.
Although I can’t comment on fade or chipping I can say I wasn’t going to take any chances because the consistency is so thin. I used China Glaze Patent Leather Top Coat which I highly recommend. I use it every time I apply nail polish anyway.
As you can see by my four blurry fingers shown below, the colour with two coats is as true as the colour in the bottle.
Price
The bottle cost £9.50/ $14 although I got mine from Boots and they had a £5.00 voucher off which made the price a lot easier to swallow. I simply think for what it is, it is way over priced. You would find much better from OPI (try ‘Royal Rajah Ruby’) or China Glaze (try ‘Drastic’)
Conclusion
If you really adore the nail colours in the Ruby & Millie range then buy, but be sure there isn’t a better alternative on the market because these nail enamels simply do not stand up to the likes of OPI and China Glaze.
