I love that part in the movie, Napoleon Dynamite when he talks about needing to get some skills.
This post actually is back to front. I’ve started writing a big article about additional skills I think models should have and can use when not modeling but I got side tracked by my Mother visiting for afternoon tea, a trip to the salon for a pedicure, manicure and what else..oh yes some eye brow attention and blah it’s still in draft format. OY!
I just wanted to show you these though. I was the make-up artist and creative director on this shoot.
I worked with good friend, Verity Vale, pin-up model and 21st Century Pin-ups.
These were for 21st Century Pin-ups’ promotional materials.
The pictures have been rendered so they look very retro and old. Think – before digital LOL.
Anyway many thanks to Verity and the editor-in-chief of 21stcenturypinups.net, Holli-Mae Johnson for letting me work some magic. I’m pleased with the whole look and the hair came out nice. I don’t really class that as skill because between me and anyone who reads this blog I much prefer doing just make-up, but I can do hair, which I did for this shoot too, but only because they offered me more chocolate on set!

By the way, Verity also has skills. She is just very good with making outfits and she’s just offered to help with my costume for the Wizard Of Oz party in Vegas! We’ve been chatting about ideas tonight over dinner. Oh I digress, go see how Verity makes sparky shoes – on her site. I love it!
Oh, I’m not going as Dorothy so no ruby slippers for me, but follow Verity’s guide and you can make your own. Awesome!
Remember the key word is: SKILLS. You need other skills as a model and my next article will explain why and how.

There should be more to admiring plus-size women other than the asthetics.
I’m very pleased someone is joining in the growing number of men who enjoy brains and beauty.
I’m humbled by the write up.
Huge thanks.
Here’s Whispered Perfection.

Hi Vansters,
I just have to say a big thank you for all the feedback I’ve had from last nights show. It’s weird talking about myself but you’ll see how my journey is one of great beams of light right through to the solitude of darkness.
I’ve only just begun.
Part one and two are available here on the site on my blogtalk radio console on the right hand side.
I’m set now to do part 3 which is all about sex, drugs and rock n’ roll – yeah really. It would have been so easy for me to be a drop out during my teens but I have this knack of pulling myself out of the shit.
Maybe there is something in my history you can relate to?
I am incredible and YOU are incredible. We are are incredible human beings who have the ability to do wonderful things.
I’ve received emails and messages a few times over the last two weeks by people who’ve asked me to help motivate them. I can do that but the first thing to know is you have to want to be motivated. You have to want to make a positive change. It doesn’t have to be even to do with your weight but I must admit I’ve been asked by people how to motivate themselves to do things despite the fact they don’t have great self-esteem concerning their weight.
Listen to yourself for a moment. Think about your goal and then go back to writing down how to achieve that goal. Then spend some time thinking very positivly about yourself. I don’t want to hear that you don’t like this, and you don’t like that about yourself. Screw that. That is for losers and you are NOT a loser. You remember I just said you are an incredible person. I don’t even know half the people that read this blog, but I know for them to even come to this site and want to read what I say they are incredible! That’s it, it’s done. I said it and I will not hear you say anything negative about yourself.
Secondly: If someone gives you advice take it with grace and either act on it or put it to one side. Do not, under any circumstance put up road blocks in regards to advice.
You hear it all the time don’t you? Someone suggests a way you can make a change or do something and all you do is say, no and but. Look, in my experience these people just aren’t ready to make the change.
How do I know? I’ve done it myself so don’t think I’ve not worn those shoes. I have and they were the worst shoes I’ve ever wore.
Not everyone’s advice is sound but they’ve taken the time to think through a problem you asked them advice about.
At least you could do is go away and think about it, even if you don’t act on the advice given. Simply put – quit making excuses as yo why something can’t be so.
People set up way too many personal road blocks for themselves. They make their lives truely more difficult than they need to be. Breath, slow down and think.
Every day we’re doing this Mantra.
Say it. Do it. Believe it. Even when you’ve feeling like a bag of crap and the whole world seems hell bent on making things difficult.
You will succeed.
Look at the people who shout their names from the biggest roof tops? They are succeeding. It doesn’t mean to say their lives are a bowl of cherries. No one has a perfect life. There is always a little glitch somewhere, but they still continue to say these words. I BELIEVE IN ME. Shout it. Sing it. Believe it.
I’ve spent way too long being the one who never wanted to shout her name from the roof tops. Now I’m going to be shouting my name out all over the place so people know who I am. What I’ve been through and in turn some people may find it gives them a nudge to be more positive.
What do you want to change?
How can you change it?
Stop blocking ideas.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
Get up and say ‘I believe in me’
Write down your goals and the things you need to do to get there.
Go over and over and over them
Tick them off as you go. May take one day, may take five years the point is you made a plan.
Learn from your experiences. Nothing is a mistake, just a learning curve.
Don’t give up. Don’t be weak.
You are strong.
I believe in you.
YOU ARE INCREDIBLE.
Great!
We can celebrate your arrival into a new world of ‘getting up off your behind and making it happen’.
LET’S GO!
Send this blog entry to your friends. Tweet it and please know that I don’t give a flying fajita who thinks I’ve grown a big head by wanting to shout my name or telling you to do the same. They can shout just as loud as me and it would take less effort than disrespecting me and hating on me. We don’t need those negative people in our lives. Leave them behind and SHOUT YOUR NAME!

Hi Vansters,
I’ve had a testing evening, last night as you may know from my twitter. I had a burst radiator pipe in my lounge and some poor guy had to come and fix it at 10pm and then an hour after one of my fave fish passed away.
But I turned on my yahoo and found two offline messages from my friend, T-Devil. His little thank you to me made me smile. You are welcome T-Devil. x
T-Devil is just one of the most up front writers about weight issues amongst other things, that I know. He’s very honest and cuts to the bone with his words. I don’t always whole heatedly agree with everything he says but the way for us to move forward in this life and understand other people is to take on board other people’s opinions, even if we disagree or don’t fully support their point of view. We still need to listen.
I want to introduce you to his blog and hope you will bookmark it and visit it often. I’m glad he’s followed my advice and decided to keep it going because he wasn’t sure whether to.
His newest post is regarding Kirstie Alley. I’m torn about it because I think Kirstie has a beautiful spirit and she’s vocal about how she feels about herself and her weight loss and gain. Even if it is negative where weight gain is concerned.
However, T-Devil says that her constant airing of her negative views towards her weight gain gives the impression she really hates herself being fat and THAT as a public figure is not great because what it does is give a negative impression of weight for anyone who’s bigger and solidifies majority opinion that ‘fat people are pigs, ugly, lacking sexiness’. Of course some people will think that, but it would be nice if famous folk didn’t promote that general feeling as soon as they lose a vast amount of weight and refer to themselves when they were bigger as ‘a pig’. Pigs are sweet animals – but they are just that – animals; not human beings.
I follow Kirstie on Twitter. I think she’s a good person who loves her friends and speaks her mind. However, I do think that T-Devil has a point and just like Kirstie he shoots from the hip.
I’m may write a peice about Kirstie after I’ve watched ‘Fat Actress’ from front to back. But before that I want to say I think she’s beautiful. I’m not even ass kissing arse because I didn’t think something of her I wouldn’t follow her on twitter. But seriously I think she rocks, I’m just not sure how much she realizes that when she’s at a weight she doesn’t like.
