You read that right! I am embarking on a FAT CHICK MARATHON CHALLENGE!
One of my few fat-chick-non-believers out there challenged me to enter, compete and finish the LA Marathon being held Sunday, March 21, 2010. This challenge was sweetened when they placed a $500 bet on the table, to be donated to the charity of my choice upon completion of the 26.2 mile marathon through the streets of Los Angeles.
Now as you may know, I am not one to back down from any challenge! Even if it seems completely impractical being that I stand 5 feet 9 inches tall, weigh 260 pounds and haven’t walked an entire mile since I wore a Catholic School uniform and I walked home from school! I am stubborn, hardheaded, and more importantly I am determined to finish this year’s LA Marathon!
So beginning Feb 1st, I will be documenting my path to MARATHON GREATNESS in a Documentary Style Reality Webseries! The webseries will not only include daily video blogs, weekly weigh ins, work out sessions, but also follow me through my real life and daily routines: photoshoots, red carpets, in studio radio sessions and all that jazz!
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE A PART OF THIS PROJECT: maybe you own/promote a club, restaurant, storefront, clothing line and would like the exposure that a viral documetary webseries can provide to your business, PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP! I will also need locations, clubs, restaurants, any place in the LA area that are available to use in the documentary!
ALSO, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPONSOR ME: CONTACT ME ASAP!
Devyn Ashley’s Short Bio:
In an anticipation of my buddy Phil Cruz and his writing partner James Hyde’s new movie, ‘SONG OF THE KNIFE’, going into production – Phil has sent me the link to a little promo. This is just a taster of some of the cast involved and demos of the martial arts the movie is based around.
Cast confirmed to so far as follows:
In my last post I mentioned wanting to try Clarins Skincare out to get my skin back in shape for when I return to modelling. So today, before I went to get my nails done, I went into the store to have a little consultation.
I’ve worked in this industry on and off for over ten years so I know my skin and know exactly what I want out of a product so it wasn’t too time consuming and because Clarins within House of Fraser are on gift I also got to pick four items to try with my purchases. I noticed too that the consultant put in a few extra decent sized samples as well (which was really lovely of the her to do).
So here is a list of things I’ve got for my skin. Baring in mind my skin is combination/oily and is prone to blemish scars after any breakout.
As the daffodils try and poke through the soil and spring tries to arrive desperately too early I find myself trying to prepare my checklist for my return to modelling.
The other catalyst for this checklist came when I received a letter from my agency asking me if I wanted to go in this year’s book and renew my contract.
Last year was not a good year for anyone in the modelling or the entertainment world as most businesses who normally break the bank with advertising were keeping their budgets very low – thus not employing many of us.
I didn’t work much as a model last year but I also turned a few things down – bad money – bad jobs. It wasn’t the agency’s fault. But I felt the companies were lacking imagination with their projects. Again I think it was all to do with keeping their budgets low.
But this year I do feel a change in the air and I do believe that after April, when the new tax year begins, there will be a surge of creativity, money and work.
My work time as a model is going to be very limited. I no longer have the luxury of living in London so travel to jobs would be expensive, plus I now work a regular job which has zero flexibility regarding time off. I’m having way too much fun in it to quit and live like the starving artist I once was. Actually that’s a lie – I wasn’t starving, no, in fact when the good times rolled they sure did roll but with the economic crash I cannot afford to live that lifestyle and nor do I really want to. Since moving back to my home town, which is still very expensive to live in due to it’s commuter belt to London, I have become rather frugal with my cash. This month I still have money in the bank and it’s been a long month. I have no clue how that happened. I think it may have been luck.
Well I’m better now but I still have a few more documentaries to share with you. If you haven’t read the first part of my run down then click here.
Who indeed! This documentary was about the murder of Sid Vicious’s wild girlfriend, Nancy Spungeon. Sid and Nancy were the John and Yoko of punk and by all accounts Nancy is often blamed for the Sex Pistol’s demise. I hazard a guess they were set to self destruct without the help of a groupie.
Great documentary which focuses on Sid and Nancy as individuals and their drug problems as well as how they worked as a couple. With opinions from the people that knew them both and were around at the time of Nancy’s fatal stabbing and their thoughts on who actually killed her. Most don’t believe Sid (despite wringing a cat’s neck in front of his buddies for kicks) did the dirty deed.
Whatever your opinion is on the couple or the murder itself the underlying message is that THE DRUGS DON’T WORK. But Nancy herself knew she would never make it past 21 claims a friend and no one would argue with a woman who’s relationship with a syringe gave her more than any lover ever could.

It’s important to remember this documentary isn’t about what will happen but what could happen to our world if we continue to abuse it the way we are doing and lets not forget what could happen to us.
This doc is refreshing in terms of its style and eye opening – keeping you glued from start to finish. You desperately want it to have a happy ending – will it? That’s the question. Despite sounding depressing this film is also a about hope and the resilience of some to survive in the worst apocalyptic nightmare. Some would argue this film isn’t make believe. Watch for yourself on YouTube!

I can’t ever imagine as a mother the image of my son holding a gun let alone killing someone with it. But this is the harsh reality for many mothers and families in LA. And for those who have to bury their loved ones its a hopeless fight where no one is a winner.
I stumbled on this documentary quite by accident and I’m glad I did, because now I can understand the history of two of America’s best known gangs. I use the word, ‘understand’ loosely because quite frankly I still think there is a better way for young men to live their lives. But who am I to judge or say a word as I grew up freely – able to go where ever I wanted without fear I would be shot down.
I really can’t say much more but would ask you all to find it online and watch it.

Well I hope these feed your brain as they did mine.
