I recently purchased two bottles (in two different types) of the Revlon Custom Creations Foundation.
I wanted to not only review it for you but explain why this may not have had the best reviews on-line.

Revlon Custom Creations Foundation comes  with 5 different shades of foundation in each bottle. The idea being you can move the dial to squeeze out the foundation, and in affect mix them to create your own perfect colour.

The range consists of  light, medium and medium deep. It also has the added bonus of having a SPF (sun protection factor) 15 in it. Whilst the colours are not suitable for very dark skins they do cover a vast range of skin shades. Feel free to click on the pictures below for the ingredient information.

I bought these foundations for my professional make-up kit;  for jobs which required a more natural look and/or if the job was based outdoors the sun protection is a nice touch.

For under £15.00 /$14.00 I wasn’t expecting this to be the foundations to surpass all others and that’s a very important point to take into account.

If you’re expecting this foundation to have a full coverage to cover blemish marks etc then you will not be happy. But if you’re skin is clear or you’re happy to use a more heavy duty concealer like Benefit’s Erase Paste then you will have no problem with this.

The foundation dial at the top is very easy to use but you may find you pump the colour more than twice to get the next shade exactly as it should be.

Application: One pump is quite a bit and using a foundation brush I found the foundation did spread easily.  It does dry on the skin quickly but this is not a problem when you know how to layer your foundation. Apply one layer first and blend. Allow to settle for a minute then reapply. You should 9/10 end up with a nice finish. I most certainly did.

If you want to mix two colours together it is best to pump two on your outer hand and mix them there (like a palette) then follow the instructions on layering I just gave you.

How long does it last? I would say all day, but if your skin is oilier you may find it gets a little shiny (use loose translucent powder to reduce the odds of this happening.)
It is an all skin type foundation so it doesn’t cater specifically to moisturise or reduce oiliness on the skin.

Why am I ready bad reviews elsewhere? Because people expect drugstore foundations to be all singing all dancing, plus using a product like this takes a little bit of practice. You need to know that it dries quickly. You need to know that you should mix two or more colours (if you need to) on the hand first before putting them onto the face. You need to know that if you have blemish scars this foundation alone won’t cover, but a concealer and this foundation will. You need to know that if you have an oilier skin then its best to use a translucent powder after the application.

And the logevity and appearence on the skin is helped if you use a primer before foundation application.

Overall, as a make-up artist I would be happy to use this on a model who has relatively clear skin. Even if she has the odd mark here or there the use of a concealer as I said would be fine.

I give it a thumbs up when used with patience and understanding of the limitations of the product.
