Starve the flu and feed the brain Part 2

Well I’m better now but  I still have a few more documentaries to share with you. If you haven’t read the first part of my run down then click here.

Who Killed Nancy?

Who indeed! This documentary was about the murder of Sid Vicious’s wild girlfriend, Nancy Spungeon. Sid and Nancy were the John and Yoko of punk and by all accounts Nancy is often blamed for the Sex Pistol’s demise. I hazard a guess they were set to self destruct without the help of a groupie.
Great documentary which focuses on Sid and Nancy as individuals and their drug problems as well as how they worked as a couple. With opinions from the people that knew them both and were around at the time of Nancy’s fatal stabbing and their thoughts on who actually killed her. Most don’t believe Sid (despite wringing a cat’s neck in front of his buddies for kicks) did the dirty deed.

Whatever your opinion is on the couple or the murder itself the underlying message is that THE DRUGS DON’T WORK. But Nancy herself knew she would never make it past 21 claims a friend and no one would argue with a woman who’s relationship with a syringe gave her more than any lover ever could.

Earth 2100

It’s important to remember this documentary isn’t about what will happen but what could happen to our world if we continue to abuse it the way we are doing and lets not forget what could happen to us.
This doc is refreshing in terms of its style and eye opening – keeping you glued from start to finish. You desperately want it to have a happy ending – will it? That’s the question. Despite sounding depressing this film is also a about hope and the resilience of some to survive in the worst apocalyptic nightmare. Some would argue this film isn’t make believe. Watch for yourself on YouTube!

Crips and Bloods: Made in America

I can’t ever imagine as a mother the image of my son holding a gun let alone killing someone with it. But this is the harsh reality for many mothers and families in LA. And for those who have to bury their loved ones its a hopeless fight where no one is a winner.
I stumbled on this documentary quite by accident and I’m glad I did, because now I can understand the history of two of America’s best known gangs. I use the word, ‘understand’ loosely because quite frankly I still think there is a better way for young men to live their lives. But who am I to judge or say a word as I grew up freely – able to go where ever I wanted without fear I would be shot down.

I really can’t say much more but would ask you all to find it online and watch it.

Well I hope these feed your brain as they did mine.
